Venesa Walker

 

Coach "V" was born and raised in Southern California where she grew up playing club and beach volleyball. As a junior in high school she began coaching girls in middle school how to play the game. When injuries kept her from playing volleyball competitively, she still conditioned her skills by playing beach doubles along the California coastlines. In 1998, Venesa Walker moved to Virginia Beach, Virginia with her three children.

Her skills as a self-driven problem solver helped her to develop and implement Volleyball 4 Youth. By using multiple ways to teach the same objective she is able to help diverse individuals achieve their full potential in reaching their developmental goals.

Coach "V" continues to develop a feeder program for the middle schools, high schools and colleges by running a year round training program for players and potential coaches through Volleyball 4 Youth. Coach Venesa Walker is a member of the American Volleyball Coaches Association, Positive Coaching Alliance, USAV, and AAU. She is working towards her accreditation in coaching education. She is also Impact Certified and in the process of completing her CAP certifications.

  • Coaching Indoor maintenance and Boot Camp programs for players wanting to maintained, fine tune and develop their indoor skills.

  • Private trainer for players ages 8-18 for beach and indoor play

  • 2007 Junior Atlantic Beach Volleyball Tour Coach

  • Head Coach for the VB4Y National Team 2006-2007 season

Past

  • Hosted 6 junior beach tournaments in 2006

    • 4 which were qualifying events for the Junior Olympic Games

    • Host for the 40th AAU Junior Olympic Games-Beach Doubles

    • Host for the Junior Atlantic Beach Volleyball Championships, which was held during the East Coast Surfing Competition.

  • Coached Beach Double Teams in 2006

    • Coached the Junior Atlantic Beach Volleyball Teams from Virginia. 6 teams qualified for the Junior Olympic Games in 2006.

    • Hosted and Coach the Wednesday night JABV team training -12 teams

    • Hosted Friday night beach league with 24 teams ages 8-18.

  • Junior Head Coach for two teams in 2006:

    • Synergy 14-1 team with a 71.2 % winning streak. Attended 12 tournaments including Northeast Qua lifer in Baltimore, MVSA Invitational in MD, East Coast Championships at Penn State, PA, the AAU National in Florida, and the USAV National in Atlanta, GA.

    • Fusion 13-1 team lost their coach during the season and Coach V took over as head coach leading the team to three straight GOLD Medals. They won the ODR Regional's in Richmond Virginia, the MVSA Invitational in Maryland, and the Quest for Excellence tournament in North Carolina. We also had a strong finish placing 9th at the East Coast Championships in PA.

  • Asst. College Coach Spring of 2006

    • Assisted in recruiting, fundraising and conditioning for the Virginia Wesleyan College Marlin’s Women's Volleyball Team.

    Asst. College Coach Fall of 2005

    • Assistant coach for the Virginia Wesleyan College Marlin’s Women's Volleyball Team.
      As their assistant coach, she was able to use her knowledge in breaking down a player’s technique and helping them increase their potential with basic adjustments. Her talents also help find weaknesses in the opponent’s defense and offense.

    Junior’s Head Coach to two teams in 2005:

    • Fusion 13-1 team which had 4 starters that were 12 eligible and one that was 10 eligible they took home a silver medal at the MVSA Invitational at Trinity College, bronze victory at Penn State, and second place in ODR championship in Richmond.  They had an 82% serving success rate with 95 aces for the season. Season record was 50-38.

    • B.O.B. 15-1 with a 70% serving record took a first place victory with only 6 players at the Richmond Convention Center. They also won copper at the Quest for Excellence tournament in Greensboro playing with three players that were 13 and under. Season record was 50-51.

    Coached Beach Doubles Team in 2005

    • A 16 and Under, and a 14 and Under team at the XXXVX AAU Junior Olympic Games in New Orleans, LA., The teams won a chance to play in the Junior Olympic Games by winning a qualifying tournament in their age bracket during the AAU beach tour, which competes in over 6 states.

    • A 14 and Under team at the Chicago Championships, which they took third pl place.

    • Friday night beach league with 24 teams ages 8-16.

    2004

  • Juniors Head Coach In 2004

    • she coached the 12’s TVA team to an ODR championship.

  • Coached Beach Doubles Team in 2004

    • Coach V started a Friday night beach league with 12 teams ages 10-14.

  • Conducted clinics and personal training sessions for junior players throughout the Virginia Beach Area.

2003

  • Developed the Volleyball 4 Youth Program to begin a feeder program for the local schools. Goal was to teach fundamental volleyball skills to as many junior players as possible.

Prior to moving to Virginia Beach to raise my family I was involved in product marketing in the U.S., Asia, and Europe.
